A. Here is a place that reviews a bunch of weight loss programs, dieting aides, supplements and so on. The site even has categories like diabetes, low fat and hypnosis. Pretty cool site. Many of the programs listed have consumer reviews, so you can read what others think of the different products and programs before you decide on one for yourself. Hope this helps!

Weight loss?
Q. I want to lose 20 - 30 pound by the beginning of November. I need to know what foods to eat. I will be going and walking/running everyday after school as well. I'm 5'9 i have a large body frame. I weigh somewhere around 190. The healthy weight range for my height is 150 - 170. Any tips on how to maximize my weight loss in that amount of time. Thanks.

A. you need to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home. The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better! Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results. Good luck and stick at it.

A. Hello, The reason all the other diets, diet foods, organic foods, healthy foods, medicines and all the rest don't work in this modern technologically-amazing age is because they were deliberately designed not to! I dont want to repeat myself constantly, or go on another rant of how messed up our world is - but it is a shame and people need to WAKE UP and realise what is going on. The diet industry makes billions out of insecure people and they want to keep it that way. Every year we are sold diet products that do not work. I hope people reading this really think about what I am saying here, just do a simple youtube search and find out for yourself. I have researched these facts, facts that they dont want you to know but I have gone on… [cont.]

How much protein should a female consume for weight loss?
Q. I've been working out consistently for about a year, but my weight loss has been really slow. I've only lost about 15-18lbs. I've also changed my diet and started eating a lot healthier. I haven't been intaking much protein and I believe that is a reason why my weight loss has been slow. How much protein should I take to speed up my weight loss? Are there any recipes, shakes or vitamins I should be taking? I workout at least 3-4x a week. On average I'm at the gym for 1hr. - 1.5hrs. I've been attending the RPM & Body Pump classes at least 2x a week. On the other days I'm doing cardio and weightlifting. I also do resistence training.

A. Protein: Beans, lean meats such as boneless skinless chicken and fish, peanut butter (about 1 tablespoon for a serving), etc... Lean Protein should make up about 40% of your daily nutritional intake per day. 30% is for whole grains. 20% is for fruits & vegetables. 10% is for fat.

Is weight loss a possible symptom of heart failure?
Q. I know people suffering from congestive heart failure can gain weight because of swelling, but can weight loss also be an HF symptom? Thanks for all the answer so far :) But, I figure that because of all the swelling in my abdominal cavity, I feel full much faster and therefore eat less. Does that make sense?

What are some tips for weight loss for teens?
Q. I am an overweight teen, a 190 pound 15 year old, and don't want to go on a traditional diet, but would like to make some healthy lifestyle choices to help with weight loss. Me and my best friend have decided to go to a local gym 4 times a week for 2 hours and swim every friday in the summer. What tips can you give me about easy changes to help me lose weight. please take it seriously!!
Asked by hartguy123 - Mon May 4 17:31:58 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I have lost 40 lbs. in 3 months and I know this will work. Eat small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, eat your last meal 2-3 hours before you go to sleep. Do not starve yourself or your body will go into survival mode where anything you eat will be turned into FAT. This will help you a lot but if you want more results you can exercise 3-4 days a week, include weight training and especially cardio (walking especially running). If you set your mind to lose the weight you will lose it and when you start seeing how good you look you'll want to keep going. Good Luck

I am starting a weight loss competition in my family, whats the best way to measure progress?
Q. I wanted to start a weight loss competition this summer in my family, but I wanted it to be fair. For example its probably easier for my 260 pound brother to lose a pound than my 160 pound mom. So whats is the best way to compare? Should it just be percentage of mass? Should fat be considered? Should i buy a body fat analyzer? Because i guess if someone lost 10 pounds of fat and gained 3 pounds of muscle, wouldn't that be better than someone else who just lost 9 pounds of fat? Just curious what people's thoughts on this are, i want it to be as fair as possible but with accurate measures of comparison.

What are the risks of taking weight loss pills?
Q. I've been trying to lose weight recently. I've been really healthy, drinking a lot of water, eating healthy and doing excercise, but my weight never goes down it just stays the same. So i considered weight loss pills. Is it true that after you stop taking them you'll put on weight like crazy? Are they bad for you? I just want to know if its true that you gain weight when you stop taking them, as i dont want to be taking them for the rest of my life. Any info on this would be great. Thanks!

A. percent of body fat is more important, not weight. if weight was more important then most bodybuilders would be considered overweight. weight loss pills usually dont work and if they do they arent good for the heart and more than likely you will gain all that weight back when off the pills...

What generally comes first with cancer - weight loss or fever?
Q. And how bad is loss of appetite? Does it just change or is it totally gone? Is it the appetite that effects weight or is it an increased metabolism, or both? Also, how prevalent is weight loss, loss of appetite, and fever with advanced cancers?
Asked by Adam - Fri Apr 3 17:34:00 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Neither generally comes first. Where did you even get that idea?Cancer doesn't cause a fever and unless you have a later stage cancer involving the digestive system, you probably won't have any weight loss. I've met many people this past year with cancer and the only one with any weight loss was an old man with stomach cancer that had metastasized to ther organs. He was in a very advanced stage and didn't live much longer.

What is the best way to avoid saggy skin during a weight loss regiment?
Q. I'm 29, I'm 5'2''. In the past 2.5 weeks i have lost 11 pounds and now weigh 205. I have already noticed a little skin sag. I reviewed the other questions on this topic. I want to know if it is necessary to stick to the regiment of 2 pounds max per week for weight loss or it's alright to lose more if you're doing higher intensity exercises like swimming, running, bicycling. I've been losing weight so fast b/c i've cut down on how much food i've been eating, working out multiple times a day and cutting down on sleep ( i was sleeping too much previously). would collagen in skin spring back faster if i lose weight at the slower rate of 2 lbs per week? even if i lose weight faster than the 2 lbs, and lose weight at the 1 lb/ day as i am… [cont.]

A. It really doesn't matter how big you get (as long as you are not grossly overweight). What matters is how healthy your skin is, and the skin type you were born with. The Vitamins that directly affect skin health are... Making sure you are taking these daily along with lots of water for hydration is VITAL to help your skin repair itself. If you can stand to do it, you should replace every fluid in your diet with water--but make sure you don't drink too much. You need to keep your skin hydrated, but you can make yourself sick if you drink TOO much.

Does anyone know of any good online weight loss groups?
Q. I am looking for some online support, or a chat room, for weight loss. Does anyone have any recommendations? It doesn't matter what type of diet the other people are doing, I am just looking for other people to talk to while trying to lose weight. Just to clarify, I am not looking for a diet, I am looking for people to talk to. I do Weight Watchers, I exercise and I have a very realistic outlook of how much I want to lose in a given week. The first answer I got from Lexi is really weird, so this is why I am clarifying my question.
