It is also a level of functional and/or metabolic efficiency of an organism, often implicitly human. The CaduceusAt the time of the creation of the World Health Organization (WHO), in 1948, health was defined as being "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Only a handful of publications have focused specifically on the definition of health and its evolution in the first 6 decades. Some of them highlight its lack of operational value and the problem created by use of the word "complete." Others declare the definition, which has not been modified since 1948, "simply a bad one." [1] In 1986, the WHO, in the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, said that health is "a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities." Classification systems such as the WHO Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC), which is composed of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) also define health. Overall health is achieved through a combination of physical, mental, and social well-being, which, together is commonly referred to as the Health Triangle. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How does health insurance work in terms of payment? Q. Let's say there's a family, and there's three different prescriptions for different medications within the family. Let's say the Dad is paying for health insurance. Do you just pay for health insurance once, when you register for it? Do you pay $20 monthly? Does the price you pay go up when you add more medications? I'm confused. For instance, if you get insurance through your employer, you would pay your part of the premium each payday. If you pay your premiums on time, you get to keep your insurance. Now, when you use your insurance, there is what is called a deductible. This is an amount of money you must spend before the insurance starts paying anything. A typical deductible might be $250/year for the policy holder and $500/year for the family. So, if your dad had the policy and went to get a prescription, if it was his first prescription of the year and it cost $100, he would pay $100. Every time he used stuff under the plan, he would pay… [cont.] Answered by Steve D - Tue Feb 10 15:52:07 2009 How will the department of health and human services carry out a new health care plan? Q. Once the legislation is signed by the president, the approprriate department writes the regulations to implement the law. For example, the LAW says we have to pay income taxes. The IRS regulations say we have to file a form 1040. First, proposed regs are written by the department staff. They MUST follow the law. They can not violate the law. The proposed regs are published in the Federal Register, and the public has from 30 to 90 days to comment on them. The dept. reads the comments they get, and decide whether to change any of the proposed regs to fit the comments. Yes, comments very often do make a difference. I once had a job where it was my duty to write comments on proposed regs on hunger and poverty programs. Once the dept.… [cont.] Answered by Pat - Tue Oct 13 19:56:33 2009 How can I improve my health without spending loads of money?
Q. I already have pretty good health, for example I go to a gym regularly and buy my own health foods. But this does tend to be quite expensive at times. What can I do to save money but improve my health? Asked by greenxfox - Tue Feb 9 05:58:48 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. For optimal health, I advocate a low carb way of eating. As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories, because insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone) isn't activated. I personally believe in using fat as fuel instead of carbohydrates. Fat is totally benign in the absence of insulin. There aren't enough calories in vegetables & fruits to fuel the body, if you get enough calories from carbs to fuel the body, then you maintain an almost constant high insulin level with roller coaster blood glucose levels. I recommend fats from butter, coconut, olives, nuts, fish & meats, chia seeds & flax seeds. When you restrict higher carb, lower nutrition foods, it becomes… [cont.] Answered by Cindy in Texas - Tue Feb 9 06:05:48 2010 From Yahoo Answer Search: "health" Quotes about Health: Sourced
